Sandra daCOSTA | Women We Love Interview with The Man Sphere

Sandra’s aptitude and skill along with her dare-you-to-look-away sex appeal have made her an unstoppable force within the acting and film community. For this informal celeb whose goal is to achieve global domination, Sandra is still the girl next door! Sandra positions herself in such a way that she is able to make her own career choices, which involves continuing to do indie films while taking the steps to advance her career on a larger scale.

Name: Sandra daCOSTA (aka MissSandraD)
Occupation: ACTOR
Education:
  • Tom Todoroff (Scene Study) – Has worked with Harrison Ford, Samuel L. Jackson, and Liam Neeson
  • Ron Leach (Scene Study Dynamics)
  • NEXUS CANADA SPFX (Firearms Handling/Safety) – Republic of Doyle, The Hulk, Blade & Max Payne
  • Roland Parliament (Voice Over Technique) – Voice Director on the TV Series Sailor Moon
How did you get started on your current career track?
It began when I was slated to play the lead in The Apollo Effect’s latest music video, titled “The Bomb” from the album “Antisocial Disorder.” After that the opportunities began to multiply at an accelerating rate with regards to films.

What gives you the most satisfaction as an artist?
I’ve come to realize how important it is to cultivate relationships with your audience and the perfect opportunity in doing so is letting your work speak for itself. Nothing is more satisfying than knowing that your film(s) have made it in front of an audience and that in some way, shape, or form has impacted them. It’s a great reward.
What motivates or inspires you in your work?
I’m motivated by my work ethic and competitive disposition, as well as my need to succeed. If someone tells me I can’t do something, I go into overdrive to achieve it. Substance, caliber, and challenges inspire me. Roles that pique my interests are usually characters that are far removed from myself. Superimposing new layers (characters) is a very appealing challenge. The opportunity to become a whole new person is not lost on me, nor do I overlook the process. If you’re not willing to work diligently, move over and let someone else do it!
Do you have a personal work philosophy?
Definitely! Love what you do and do what you love… and always do your best!
“Don’t let failure go to your heart and don’t let success go to your head.” ~ Will Smith’s Grandma
If you weren’t doing this, what could you see yourself doing?
I can’t see myself wanting to do anything else, but if I had to venture a guess I would enjoy working for a SFX/VFX company. I would definitely like to work with Kelly Cutrone and People’s Revolution, she would make the most of my obsessive compulsive behavior and I feel I could learn a lot from her!

What are you working on right now?
I’m currently promoting three of my latest projects. The first being a feature film called “SICK – Survive The Night.” I play an Uzi-toting survivalist named Betsy who struggles to survive after an outbreak has infected the greater population.
In addition to “SICK” I also have 2 more films in the post production phase. “The Agreement” is a provocative comedy/drama that pushes the boundaries of the cliche “all is fair in love and war.” My character Maxine is a rather unlikeable character in that she is quite shameless in how she strives to achieve the upper hand. And last but not least is “The Sentry,” a film which is a psychological noir adaptation of a comic book series created by Marvel and written by Paul Jenkins (who has taken notice and supports our little film). The plot deals with issues of alcohol abuse, a failed marriage and grandeur visions of a once beloved superhero and his demons.
What do you first notice about a guy?
Eyes and lips.
What gets you interested?

Humor and intellect.
What keeps you interested?
Someone who knows how to counter my hot headed nature. It runs in the women in my family; We are a passionate tribe!

What’s your number one deal breaker?
On first meeting: Arrogance. In a relationship: Infidelity.

To stay in shape, what’s your basic diet look like?
I don’t diet (and I don’t care for the word either), I just eat healthy and in moderation. I enjoy food too much but I suppose my “diet” could be compared to the Mediterranean Diet (fruits, veg., fish and meat).
What sort of fitness plan, if any, do you follow?
4-5 days a week of HIIT/Plyometrics/Tabata training using my own body weight with sandbags, kettle-bells, UGI Ball and jump rope. I don’t have time in my schedule for long drawn out workouts, what I do takes anywhere from 12 minutes to half an hour tops and I get results! I’m a big fan of this crew: http://www.bodyrock.tv/
Favourite recipe: Steak & potatoes

iPhone or Android: iPhone baby!

One thing guys should know when talking to a beautiful woman: Keep it real.

Talk nerdy to me… from films and comics, to gaming and computers. It’s chic to be geek! Also I have a weakness for strays (let me be clear, animals) and cursing children.

What’s next for you? What’s your next big idea or project?
There are two features… that are still in the developmental stages, and another feature that I’m just finalizing details and dates for.
